Q&A with Account Executive, Kari Jackson

OpenWorks Account Executive Kari Jackson has been smashing her sales goals at OpenWorks for two years, and isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon. Here, she tells us more about her experience at OpenWorks, and what an average day looks like for a member of the sales team.

Q: What is your position at OpenWorks and how long have you been with the company? 

A: Regional Account Executive in the Seattle Region.

Q: What are your job responsibilities, or what does a typical day look like for you at your job?

A: Identify potential new customers; setting up initial meetings and walk-throughs of their facility to discuss their needs. After taking measurements, discovering where there are deficiencies in their current service and sharing a high-level overview about us, and delivering a formal proposal and quote to the potential client.    

Q: What led you to working for OpenWorks? (Also, if you were promoted from within, please elaborate) 

A: I previously sold advertising for over 15 years and didn’t want to go back into that industry.  I saw the job opening for Account Executive at OpenWorks. I didn’t know anything about commercial janitorial, but I researched the company on LinkedIn, visited the company website and Glassdoor, and was very impressed at the longevity of the company and positive reviews from both former employees and customers.

Q: What do you love about your job? 

A: I love that this is a hybrid inside and outside sales position.  I’m not sitting at my desk all day and I’m also not trying to work from a laptop in my car.  There is a common-sense approach to setting appointments and seeing potential clients, not just driving around trying to get someone to talk to me. 

Q: What do you love about working for OpenWorks? 

A: OpenWorks is a stable, established company that cares about their employees.  There’s no “churn and burn” mentality here, they want everyone to succeed, so they provide excellent and ongoing training to make sure we are experts in the commercial facilities industry.    

Q: What makes OpenWorks the employer of choice?

A: There is an incredible amount of growth opportunity available, they hire and retain the best employees and they care about their customers. They want long-term relationships, and it’s very much a team environment. I can call any other region with a question or get guidance and everyone is eager to help.

Q: Is there anything coming up that you’re excited about in your job or for OpenWorks in general? 

A: My goal is be one of the top 3 Account Executives in the company this year and go on the coveted Presidents Club trip!  There are only a few spots open for top performers and I want be included on the list. Doesn’t matter where we go, it’s always a good time and a real celebration of a successful year.
