Q&A with San Diego Regional Director

erikOpenWorks’s new office in San Diego opened its doors on August 1, 2016. And a new office means OpenWorks needed new employees! Erik Cokrlic is the new Regional Director for OpenWorks in San Diego, and we’re so excited to have him on board. Now that he’s been at the job for a little while, we decided to ask him a few questions about why he loves working for OpenWorks!

Q: What do you do at OpenWorks?
A: I am the Regional Director for the San Diego area. Our office services a 40-mile radius around the city, covering San Marcos and Carlsbad to the north, Chula Vista to the south and El Cajon to the east.

Q: It’s been a few months since you’ve opened. How is it going now?
A: We’re making lots of progress! I’m in the process of interviewing people for two Account Executive positions, and I am hoping to have the hires finalized by the end of September. We’re currently servicing three clients in the San Diego market and would like to be adding between four and eight new clients per month.
In August, I signed my first franchise owners, a husband and wife team from Kazakhstan. I expect they will be fully operational by the end of September. My goal is to add one franchisee per month for a total of three to four by the end of the year.

Q: Why will OpenWorks succeed in San Diego? Is there anything unique about the San Diego market that makes it an especially good fit for OpenWorks?
A: There is a lot of new business coming to San Diego, so this is a great time for us to be getting our foot in the door. There are more high-tech start-up companies coming to the area that were priced out of Silicon Valley, and there are a number of franchise prospects in the area.

Q: What were some of your previous positions and how were they beneficial for the role you have with OpenWorks?
A: My first job out of college was with an advertising firm in Florida. In that position, I built up the company’s client base from scratch and signed franchisees. I handled sales and advertising, and built and trained the sales team. It really built the foundation for my career and what I do for OpenWorks now.

Q: What was appealing to you about OpenWorks?
A: One of the things that stood out the most to me about OpenWorks was their 98 percent customer retention rate. To me, that was a sign that they are an established business with a proven track record of success and customer satisfaction. I saw that OpenWorks was very successful in their market selection, employee training, ongoing support and handling all customer feedback. It seemed like a great company to work for — and now I know for sure that it is!
